What is the future for Malaysia? Here are my views on how it will affect Malaysia. Let's start dissecting the kind or person Anwar is. Basic human needs according to Anthony Robbins are certainty, variety, significance, love plus connection, growth and contribution. People in politics have a higher need for significance and/or contribution. Looking at how Anwar past actions, standing up for his believes, he posses higher needs for significance. It doesn't mean it's a bad thing. There are many instances where such a strong need lead to many better changes in the world.
Knowing this, we can quite accurately foresee what may happen. His first few goals will probably be seeking justice. Najib better run. Probably Russia will be a nice place, The US Department of Justice believes Najib, who just lost the election in Malaysia, is behind the theft of billions of dollars from Malaysia's state fund. The US does not prosecute foreign heads of state. But now Najib is a private citizen.
What is going to happen to the people, the policies and overall outlook of the country? Anwar will probably want to undo everything Najib has done. Consolidating power and execute what he believes is the best for his country. Anwar is always been more of a "democrat" then a "republican" if you look at it from a US democracy point of view. The country will fall into higher debt promising the citizens more, currency will plunge even further and business will be tougher. He will form policies base on what the people wants, which is basically more monetary benefits, which will lead to more debt. However I believe he will want more transparency which will be great step forward.
It's a long road to recovery, however I believe transparency will be the 1st and probably the most important step. For now, Anwar will be the best bet and I wish all Malaysians all the best in the coming years.
